American Samoa is not a state, but a US dependency. The Flag of American Samoa's colors are borrowed from the USA flag as is the emblem, a bald eagle. The American Samoa Flag has many Samoan and American symbols. The bald eagle on the flag shows protection. In its talons are a fue, a fly switch, to symbolize wisdom. The eagle also holds a nifo oti, a dancing knife. The colors are red, white, and blue.
