Argentina Flag Adopted 1818. The blue and white colors of this flag were taken from the colors used in the Argentinean revolution against Spain in the early 1800's. It was formed into a flag by General Manuel Belgrano, the leader of the revolution until his death in 1820. The sun in the center of the flag is called the Sun of May, representing both figuratively and literally the sun that shown through the clouds on 25 May 1810 when the revolution started leading to the ultimate independence of Argentina. |
