Bahrain Flag

Flag Adopted 1959

In the 19th century a full red banner was a flag used by the pirates of the region. In order to distinguish the flag from these raiders a white stripe was added to the left of this flag and later it was serrated to distinguish it from the flag of Dubai.

NOTE: This flag differs from the Qatar flag in that the Bahrain flag is red and the Qatar flag is maroon and of different proportions.
