Myanmar (Burma) Flag Flag Adopted January 4, 1974 Myanmar's flag reflects the recent socialist politics of the country.
The origin of the flag is in the Burman Resistance against the Japanese
in World War II. The current flag depicts a a rice plant (represent agriculture) resting on a cog wheel (industry) surrounded by 14 stars (one for each province and state in the country). The red symbolizes the courage of the people, the blue represents peace and the white indicates purity. |
