The flag of Jamaica was adopted upon independence in 1962. The colors represent the following: black for the struggle and hardships the people have had to endure, yellow for sunshine and mineral resources and green for agricultural wealth and hope.

The overall design of the flag has no deeper meaning other than good aesthetics.
