Kyrgyzstan Flag

Flag Adopted 3 March 1992

The design of this flag is largely based on the the national hero of Kyrgyzstan, Manas the Noble, and his efforts to unite the 40 tribes of the area. The 40 rays of the center disk (called a yurt) represent the 40 heroes of Manas.

The center design of the yurt is a stylized view of the roof of a nomadic tent and symbolizes the unity of time and space and of home and prosperity and is in recognition of the history of the areas nomadic history.

Kyrgyzstan was the last of the old Soviet republics to break away.
