Lebanon Flag This flag was designed to be neutral and not representing any of the religious groups of the country. The red is in memory of the uniforms that were worn by the Lebanese Legion in World War I. Red represents the sacrifice of the people during the fight for independence and the white represents purity. The cedar tree has long represented Lebanon - back to the time of King Solomon (over 2000 years ago). It symbolizes the happiness and prosperity of the country. Sometimes the trunk of the tree is green. |
