Malaysia Flag

Flag Adopted 16 September 1963

Fourteen stripes represent the 14 districts within the country as do the 14 points on the yellow star. This flag was originally patterned after the flag of the United states with Islamic symbolism included (crescent).

The blue canton represents the unity of the people, red and white are the traditional colors of Southeast Asia with yellow being the traditional color of area rulers.
