Peru Flag Adopted 1820 Supposedly inspired by a flock of flamingoes flying over the troops who liberated Peru in 1820, the design was finalized by Simon Bolivar who arranged the stripes vertically in 1825. The white of the Peruvian flag represents peace and justice and the red stands for those who lost their lives in the struggle for independence. |
