United Arab Emirates (UAE) Flag 

Flag Adopted 1971

This flag is composed of the Pan-Arab colors of red, green, black and white and was adopted to express Arab unity and nationalism.

Originally the flag of the region was a full red banner, however later this was changed. The current flag retains a red stripe on the left side in acknowledgment to the original flag.
