Idaho Flag Became a US State: 1890 Flag Adopted 1957 This flag is based on a previous military standard. The State Seal depicts a shield showing mountainous terrain with a western white plain, a miner and a woman with a spear and scales (for justice, liberty and equality). Below them are cornucopias and a wheat sheaf and above is an elk head (for the states wildlife abundance). The words around the Seal say: "Great Seal of the State of Idaho".
